Recent Developments
15th November 2007
After the initial landscaping and covering the path with tarmac, see the March 2007 Update for details, it took until the end of the summer for the final golden surface, benches and waste bins to be finished.

The first weekend after this was done was a glorious sunny one and there were lots of people out enjoying themselves along the banks - and using the litter bins!
Unfortunately within a day or so it was clear the benches needed to be reinstalled!

At first it was thought that vandalism was to blame, but it quickly turned out that they had not been installed properly. After the intervention of the Chair of the Friends Group work quickly started to remove them and to prepare better foundations for them, though they have not yet been replaced.
Anti-social behaviour
Anti-social behaviour is a concern commonly mentioned in relation to the Park development. One view is that if the area is always well maintained then gradually the environment comes to be respected.
Painted graffiti, some of it highly objectionable appeared on the walls alongside the path during the Summer. In this picture it is being removed by park staff. A job well done.

Summer(!) 2007
Apparently the delay in the final surfacing was partly due to the unsettled Summer weather. Do you remember June?

The Tatton Arms
River Mersey and the closed Tatton Arms, June 2007
One of our preocupations over the Summer has been the future of the Tatton Arms. Following its closure and subsequent sale it has been boarded up and a, temporary, fence constructed around it. Whilst it is very unclear what might happen in the future we have raised some issues of relevance to access to the Riverside Park with the council, which they seem to be paying attention to.
